Pickering Eye Care is located in a plaza next to the Pickering Town Centre, the largest mall between Scarborough East and Oshawa. The practice has been in operation since 1995 and was acquired by Dr. Nazir S. Musaji in 1997. It was moved in September 2004 from the mall into a modern, and spacious new location in the Pickfair Shopping Centre. The plaza is strategically located between Hwy 401 and Hwy 2, on Liverpool Road. Our location and office hours allow us to be convenient for most patients and thus, we draw patients from Scarborough, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Bowmanville and Uxbridge. We are proud to be currently taking care of the eye care needs of over 45,000 patients.

Dr. Nazir Musaji is the principal owner and staff optometrist at the practice. He is assisted by full-time associate optometrist, Dr. Michael Lam. We have three optometric assistants (Eurmin - Office Manager, Ladonna – Dispensing Manager and Denise) who are fully trained in all operations, including pre-testing and dispensing procedures of the practice. Some of our Optometric assistants are currently enrolled in the CAO Optometric Assistant program. Frequently, we are also assisted by student opticians and Optometric students who learn from our knowledge and experience.

The practice has the most advanced, state of the art equipment, which allows all personnel to examine the eyes of our patients in a smooth, thorough and efficient manner. These include three fully equipped exam rooms with up to date Topcon diagnostic instruments, both contact and non-contact tonometers, an auto refractor, an auto lensometer, a Binocular Indirect Ophthalmoscope, and a Humphrey visual field analyzer. The practice is computerized with all office and patient records on electronic and conventional media. We recently upgraded and networked all of our computers so that we could better implement the use of a Digital Retinal Camera for the benefit of our patients’ eye care needs. We have also partnered with eyevertise.com to develop a first rate Optometric website, eye-doctor.ca, so we can better communicate with our current patients, and potentially new clients. This winter, we plan to also purchase an edger to help better serve our patient’s eyeglass requirements.

The Ophthalmic services that we provide at our office include eye exams, contact lens dispensing, eye glass dispensing, refractive surgery consultation, emergency eye care and ocular pathology co-management with Family Physicians, Ophthalmologists and Optometrists. We dispense a wide selection of contact lenses, which include disposable, coloured, continuous wear, daily wear, Toric, RGP’s, and bifocal contact lenses. We also dispense a wide selection of eye glass frames and lenses which include products from reputable suppliers such as Centennial Optical, Luxottica, Aspex Group, KW Optical and Nikon. We have also implemented an inventory of over the counter ocular medications for the benefit of our patients and staff Optometrists. Because of our convenient location and hours of operation, as well as our expertise and constant striving for outstanding customer service, our office enjoys numerous referrals from existing patients, other Optometrists and Ophthalmologists, Family Physicians and many Optical stores. This continued growth, has transformed our office into one of the larger Optometric offices in Pickering.
